Payroll and Accounting Manager

Full Time | Staten Island, NY

THE POSITION
The Payroll and Accounting Manager (PAM) is a full-time, year-round position and an integral part of the SHCC&BG Administrative team. The PAM plays a leading role in supporting the organization in the capacity of payroll, employee benefits, and accounting.

PRIMARY TASKS

  • Manage all aspects of biweekly payroll, including posting, reconciliation, funding, and periodic reporting of taxes and census data
  • Manage accounting-related aspects of payroll and revenue accounting functions for the
    organization
  • Act as key point person for HR-related tasks including staff onboarding and off-boarding, payroll, staff files, vacation tracking, and benefits administration
  • Serve as point person for resolution of staff questions on support services, ensuring timely
    resolution and project status updates to relevant staff
  • Manage periodic organization-specific reporting to City agencies involving headcount, revenues, and expenses
  • Oversee training and staffing of Garden Attendant personnel
  • Participate in preparing budgets, assisting with annual audit, handling vendor relationships and contract negotiations, making purchases, and controlling expenditures
  • Special projects as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated successful experience in an
    administrative capacity
  • Excellent computer skills, including, Excel, Word, Outlook, Quickbooks, and experience with
    ADP or comparable third-party payroll service
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written), organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative
  • High level of internal accountability and personal responsibility
  • High level of organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with people at all levels with an openly engaging, energetic, and diplomatic
    personality
  • Ability to maintain composure, flexibility, discretion, and sound professional judgment
