Ailey Moves NYC! Revelations Dance Workshop and AILEY Screening

Join Ailey Moves NYC!, a 10-day series of activities for all ages across the five boroughs. Enjoy performances, dance in classes and workshops led by Ailey’s Arts In Education and Ailey Extension teachers and musicians, meet current students from the acclaimed Ailey School, and watch the stirring documentary AILEY out in the open air. Ailey is thrilled to bring dance back to the people.

Celebrate Alvin Ailey’s signature work Revelations by joining other dance enthusiasts to learn excerpts from this masterpiece. All ages and experience levels are welcome. Don’t leave Staten Island without your souvenir fan, a signature prop from Revelations. Everyone can dance with Ailey! This engagement is part of Ailey Moves NYC! A Free Summer Dance Celebration for all (July 23-August 1).

8:30 PM: AILEY documentary film screening

Explore the life of the legendary choreographer Alvin Ailey, whose dances express the Black American experience with grace, strength, and beauty. This stirring film, directed by Jamila Wignot, features previously unheard audio interviews with Mr. Ailey, interviews with those close to him, and an intimate glimpse inside the Ailey studios today. This showing is part of Ailey Moves NYC! A Free Summer Dance Celebration for all (July 23-August 1).
