Get your jazz hands in position! We’ll be exploring contemporary jazz with BellaRu Dance Company’s founder and director, Lydia Bellach Ruocco. Starting with a fun, upbeat warm-up, we’ll learn a shared vocabulary before running through a combination that is guaranteed to make you want to move. Geared toward adult movers of all ages and levels of dance experience, including beginners.

Lydia Bellach Ruocco is one of Staten Island’s most diverse dance teachers. Her choreography has a blend of influences from the Martha Graham Technique, Bob Fosse & Frank Hatchett Style Jazz.
Her teaching and choreography spans 35 years bringing energy, style and passion to dancers age 3-100+ including those with different learning abilities. Lydia’s BellaRu Dance Company has performed at the Statue of Liberty, Disney World, Harlem Globetrotters, Six Flags Great Adventure, and with many local events such as Meals on Wheels, Seaview Nursing Home, Wagner College Sporting events, American Cancer Society events, The Richmond County Orchestra and the Inaugural Staten Island Miss Special Needs Pageant.
This class is a part of the Snug Harbor Dance Festival, a celebration of the local and citywide dance community. With dance classes throughout the month, the dance festival will culminate in a two-day event made up of performances, workshops, dance films, field conversations, and site-based activations.
