Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden is excited to announce an open call for submissions to participate in Porch Plays, a new project that explores the “porch/front stoop” and its role in community building and storytelling.
We are seeking submissions for 10-minute pieces in theater, dance, music, poetry and storytelling that explore community resilience. As a guide, we offer the following questions as prompts:
- What does it mean to be in community with one another? A community is defined as a social unit with commonality such as norms, religion, values, customs, or identity. Communities may share a sense of place situated in a given geographical area or in virtual space through communication platforms.
- How do you persevere despite the social injustices and inequities you experience?
- What does resilience look like to you?
*This program aims to center the stories and artistry of communities of color, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, other marginalized communities and their allies
DEADLINE: Friday, September 25, 2020, 11:59 PM
