Lantern Making for Families: Breaking Ground

Build your own lantern in the style of the Lunar New Year! The New York Winter Lantern Festival has come to Snug Harbor, and we want you to learn why lanterns play such an important role in Chinese celebrations. Working with basic materials, you will build a lantern from scratch to light up your holiday. Participants in this workshop must be ages 6+.

This program is in celebration of the Breaking Ground: Twenty Years of the New York Chinese Scholar’s Garden exhibition, which is on display at the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art through December 29, 2019.
