Last year, New Yorkers for Culture & Arts hosted the first Cultural Convening where a citywide network of culture makers, workers, and advocates gathered to discuss policy issues that impact cultural groups in the city. In addition to fighting for increased and more equitable funding of culture, we need to press for improved public policy to support arts and culture in every borough.

Continuing the momentum of last year’s convening in Manhattan, NY4CA will be hosting four additional borough-specific convenings to:
• Follow up on issues raised during the February 2019 convening, and hear from groups on local issues that impact their work
• Build a policy platform that will support a thriving cultural ecosystem
• Begin preparation for our advocacy efforts leading up to the 2021 elections—when we will have one of the largest turnovers in city government in NYC history (35 new Council Member, 5 new Borough Presidents, a new Comptroller, and a new Mayor)!
Convenings this year will take place in Staten Island (March 5), the Bronx (March 3), Brooklyn (Febuary 21), and Queens (March 19). Join one, join all! NY4CA advocacy work over the last two years has resulted in the largest culture budget in NYC history! We need to fight just as hard for improved public policy to support arts and culture in every borough. We need your voice. Be part of the conversation to shape NYC’s cultural landscape!
