PASS: Gathering(s) – a work in progress by Elena Moon Park is a reflection of conversations we have with one another about what brings us together in community and the feelings, memories, and stories we all hold around gathering(s).
Park and her team will use stories and memories developed at Snug Harbor to create a gathering space with an afternoon of music-making both communal and performative, inspired by this shared reflection around what brings us into community with one another, and what those experiences feel, look and sound like.
WHEN: March 19 | 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
WHERE: Gallery G, Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art at Snug Harbor
ADMISSION: General admission: $10 | Snug Harbor Member: $8 | BUY TICKETS HERE
* Admission at the door will be allowed as capacity permits
This residency is an exploration of the simple human need to gather, and how music can contextualize, instigate, and augment such gathering spaces. Through a love of learning about place and history, as well as our own love of gathering to make and listen to music ourselves, we hope to use gathering(s) – past, present, and future – as a lens into learning about and contextualizing the history of Snug Harbor.
PASS is made possible in part through the generous support of the Howard Gilman Foundation. Additional support is provided by the Samuel I. Newhouse Foundation, and the New York State Council on the Arts. We are proud to partner with the CUNY Dance Initiative.
