Peonies bloom furiously and briefly within a narrow range of climate conditions. No one can yet guarantee the period of peak bloom. Tree peonies have historically bloomed at Snug Harbor during the last week of April or first week of May. However, our changing climate has led to greater variability in the blooming of the peonies. This tour is rain or shine. Tickets include admission to the New York Chinese Scholars Garden.
The Tree Peony Collection has been supported by the City Gardens Club of New York City with an additional in-kind donation from Mr. Tom Paulo. The Friends of the Chinese Scholar’s Garden provides continuing support in the maintenance of the New York Chinese Scholar’s Garden.
This program is made possible with funding provided by the New York City Council through the Cultural Immigrant Initiative, a program of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. Snug Harbor thanks Staten Island City Council Members for their generous allocations.
