This past fall, Snug Harbor began an exciting new master planning effort in collaboration with New York City’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Department of Design and Construction (DDC), and Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), referred to as our Capital Project Scope Development (CPSD). The key objective of the CPSD is to determine the scope of work, phasing, and budget necessary to address the current and future capital needs across Snug Harbor’s entire campus. We worked closely with these City agencies to develop the scope of the CPSD, focusing on visitor experience, asset preservation, infrastructure improvements, and realistic cost estimating.
Partnering with City agencies, we assembled a team of world-class architects, engineers, and consultants led by Marvel Architects and The LiRo Group. Our team consists of experts in fields ranging from landscape architecture, visitor experience, infrastructure, sustainability solutions, signage and wayfinding, and everything in between. The CPSD process will be complete in Autumn 2019 with a fully phased and cost-estimated 15-year master plan for Snug Harbor that will provide a roadmap for future capital requests.
The LiRo Group, our lead engineer for the CPSD, spent months on Snug Harbor’s campus digitally mapping our interior spaces. The image you see here is a preliminary excerpt from this mapping exercise, and shows “slices” cut through some of our historic buildings. This data, aside from being visually stunning, will be used in a myriad of ways to plan Snug Harbor’s future. Potential uses include marketing outreach, floor plan generation for future capital planning, programming considerations, etc. We are thrilled to have such visionary and technologically advanced resources available to us through the CPSD process.
