September is Emergency Preparedness month-learn to be prepared! New York City Emergency Management is sponsoring a FREE outdoor Family Preparedness Festival on the East Meadow of the Staten Island Children’s Museum. Families are invited to come and learn all about preparing for emergencies and local resources available should emergencies happen.

This Museum-wide event features:

• Tours of Emergency Management and FDNY vehicles;

• Several local emergency response teams;

• NYPD Mounted Unit officers & horses;

• NYPD Search & Rescue dogs;

• The NYC Parks Department Play-mobile will be on-site with games and fun.

Indoors in the Museum’s lower level gallery, bring Teddy Bears to Richmond University Medical Center’s Teddy Bear Clinic! Emergency room professionals will provide first aid for Teddy Bears (and other favorite plush friends) in need of care. There will also be crafts, including “Superhero” accessory making in the Gallery, and fun, interactive presentations for kids in Portia’s Playhouse.

FREE Admission to the Museum, sponsored by NYC Emergency Management. Please note the Museum will open at 12 p.m. on the day of the festival.
