Three Friends of Winter Tour

Discover why the pine, bamboo, and plum–the “three friends of winter”– are so deeply valued in Chinese culture. In the New York Chinese Scholar’s Garden and culturally, the Three Friends of Winter are grouped together because they flourish during that season, representing the ideal characteristics of the scholar, embodying the Confucian virtues of endurance, modesty, and fortitude.
