Abuelita Masala is a food extravaganza with several grandmas of different ethnicities sharing their best dishes and offering a tasting and discussion about the origins of food recipes and preparations. This event is part of exhibition programming for Abuela’s Kitchen and is hosted by the Staten Island Urban Center and features guests from the Staten Island community.

WHERE: Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art, Building G, 1st floor
ADMISSION: Pay what you wish (Suggested: $5-$10) |

Abuela’s Kitchen is made possible through generous support from the Samuel I. Newhouse Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.

The Staten Island Urban Center has received generous support for this project through the Pinkerton Foundation, Trinity Wall Street, NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, NYC Council Speaker Initiatives Adrianne Adams and Councilmember Kamillah Hanks – Young Women’s Leadership, Soraya Candelario, and Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden.
