Support local agriculture, local employment, and a resilient food system!

At the weekly Farm Stands, you can purchase vegetables, herbs, and flowers as fresh as in your own backyard. This year, the Snug Harbor Heritage Farm Stand will offer more experiences and diverse produce.

We will have workshops with growers and chefs, tours, and other exciting opportunities throughout the season, including cooking demonstrations from the Sylvia Center and Staten Island Advance’s Pamela Silvestri.   Find out what’s happening each week by joining the Farm newsletter!  Email us to be added to the distribution list!

As always, we are eager to accept SNAP/EBT purchases and distribute HealthBucks with SNAP purchases.

Our crop plan has more varietals than ever, including suggestions from our community members (thank you all very much!).  We’ll be growing more fruit, and trying again to get mushrooms to the farm stand for sale (thank you, Cornell!).  We emphasize preserving the land’s resources and supporting its ecology.  We source our seed and root stock from innovative seed savers who prioritize preserving genetic diversity in our corner of the world.  We utilized the Slow Food Foundation’s as a reference (the Ark of Taste is a living catalog of delicious, nutritious, distinctive foods facing extinction because they don’t work well for the needs of a globalized food systems, which requires maximized volume, minimal attention, ability to handle traveling long distances, and a consistency in product).  And we continue to leverage regional expertise to keep our staff learning best practices for ecological sustainability, thanks to our partners at Cornell Cooperative Extension Harvest NY.
