Perennial Garden
Public Gardens
Discover a garden that blooms nearly all year long
One of the first gardens to awaken each spring, Snug Harbor’s Perennial Garden offers something beautiful to see in every season. Thoughtfully designed in 2000 and continually evolving, this vibrant landscape showcases the remarkable diversity of perennial plants—herbaceous species that return year after year, some living for decades.
Here, every plant is chosen and arranged to ensure continuous color and interest. While individual perennials bloom for only a few weeks to a few months, the garden blends perennials with annuals, bulbs, shrubs, and small trees, creating an ever-changing tapestry that stays alive with texture and movement throughout the year. It’s a modern approach that brings long-lasting beauty while keeping upkeep light.
Stroll past serene reflecting pools and across bluestone pathways—beautifully restored in 2019 with support from the Northfield Bank Foundation—and enjoy a peaceful, free to visit space that rewards return visits with something new each time.
Come discover a garden that celebrates the rhythms of nature, season after season.
