Enrich your conventional classroom curriculum

Our classes and workshops are designed as interdisciplinary, hands-on experiences that enable students to explore their creativity, discover their community, and learn classroom subjects in new ways. Our programs incorporate Snug Harbor’s history, exhibitions, performances, architecture, and flora and fauna to create a personal, tangible learning environment for all ages. School groups have the options of touring the campus, pairing their tour with a workshop, or experiencing a Snug Harbor Education workshop in their own classroom.

Snug Harbor offers the following 90-minute programs: Chinese Scholar’s Garden, Borough Arts Festival, Wetlands, Pastoral Grounds and Gardens, and Heritage Farm.

Each program pairs a tour with a hands-on workshop. On-site programs can be combined with in-class programs as a learning series. Pre-K and after-school programs are delivered in your classroom.

Please let us know how our resources can support your curriculum.

  • Classes are encouraged to bring lunch. Tours do not break for lunch. Lunch is offered picnic-style on our grounds. Indoor facilities are not guaranteed.
  • Every visit to Snug Harbor is an outdoor experience. Please dress according to the weather and for navigating outdoors! We encourage close-toed shoes that are okay getting dirty.
  • Cancellations are subject to a $50 fee.
  • Classes arriving more than 15 minutes late will have a shortened program. Please provide your bus driver with a map and clearly note the meeting spot.

**While our Chinese Scholar’s Garden programs typically include a guided tour, hazardous or unsafe conditions may necessitate adjustments to the itinerary, including limited or restricted access to the garden. We appreciate your understanding as we prioritize safety.**
