Tuscan Garden
Public Gardens
Transport yourself to Tuscany without leaving Staten Island
Inside Snug Harbor’s Tuscan Garden, you’ll feel as if you’ve wandered into the Italian countryside. Inspired by the breathtaking Villa Gamberaia in Florence, this garden features terraced landscapes, sparkling fountains, sculpted topiary, elegant stonework, and period plantings arranged in a harmonious early Renaissance layout.
In spring, summer, and autumn, the Tuscan Garden becomes a stunning setting for special events, from intimate weddings to outdoor performances and community programs. Its green amphitheater—anchored by a classical statue of the Roman fertility goddess Ceres—has hosted everything from Lincoln Center’s Silent Disco to Snug Harbor’s Neptune Ball. During the colder months, the garden’s Lemon House shelters tropical plants for overwintering, ensuring beauty returns each year.
The Tuscan Garden invites you to stroll, relax, and experience a little piece of Italy right here at Snug Harbor.
The garden was completed in 2010 with the generous support of the Richmond County Savings Foundation.
