Since 1993, we’ve been dedicated to helping Staten Islanders explore composting in ways that feel welcoming, practical, and empowering.

If you’re just starting to divert food scraps from your kitchen, check out our FAQ on food scrap drop-off at Snug Harbor. When you’re eager to learn how to process organic waste, try your hand at our Compost Processing Workdays. Ready to create a composting space with your household or neighbors? The Master Composter Certification Course–an advanced compost education and outreach program–is perfect for you! And we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Bring your food scraps to the Snug Harbor Sustainability Center (formerly the Compost Demonstration Site) seven days a week, from dawn to dusk. The site is open daily for drop-off.
